Gabriel Saunders

Raised on Providenciales, Gabriel Saunders is a native Turks and Caicos Islander whose developmental years were heavily influenced by his Afro-Caribbean father from South Caicos, and his Indo-Guyanese Canadian mother, blending traditions and perspectives that nurture his comprehensive understanding of cultural diversity.

After a formative boarding school experience at Trinity College School in Port Hope, Ontario, Canada, Gabriel earned a BA in Political Science and Business, and a Master of Business, Entrepreneurship, and Technology (MBET) from the University of Waterloo. During his time in Waterloo, Canada’s tech hub, Gabriel co-founded a biotechnology start-up, ‘Decomp’, aimed at reducing plastic pollution. Gabriel was invited by the Commission of Environmental Cooperation to pitch it to North America’s Most Senior Environmental Officials, demonstrating his commitment to environmental sustainability and innovative problem-solving.

He also sits on the Board of Directors of the Turks and Caicos Chamber of Commerce, and serves on the Executive Committee of the Turks and Caicos International Film Festival, underscoring his dedication to the islands’ cultural and economic prosperity. Additionally, Gabriel’s ventures in influencer marketing and luxury watersports, alongside his passion for building his own personal food forest, further reflect his creative approach and commitment to enhancing the Turks and Caicos Islands however he can.
